Donald Trump is no stranger to scandal, but he insisted to CNN’s Jake Tapper that he’s actually a devout Christian; he’s got a ‘great relationship’ with God, and the big guy is helping Trump win the presidential candidacy race. Click through to watch the insane video!
Donald Trump, 69, sat down with Jake Tapper on CNN’s State of the Union (not the one Trump bashed on Twitter!) on January 17 to talk the status of his campaign. The GOP frontrunner got candid during the interview, and renounced his past scandal fueled ways. He’s besties with God, and the holy father has had a big hand in helping Trump dominate. Seriously? Jake posed a hard question for Trump straight away: He once stated that he would never ask God for forgiveness; did he regret that remark? Trump said he was absolutely, in no way embarrassed about saying that in the past. He and God are totally cool now! CLICK HERE to watch him explain!
“No, I have a great relationship with God, I have a great relationship with the evangelicals nationwide,” Trump told Jake. “I’m leading everybody. I like to be good, I don’t like to ask for forgiveness, And I am good, I don’t do a lot of things that are bad; I try to do nothing that’s bad. I lead a very different life than probably a lot of people probably think, and I have a very great relationship with God, a very great relationship with the evangelicals, and I think that’s why I’m doing so great in Iowa.”
Interesting theory! God is going to help Trump Make America Great Again, right? Sorry, other candidates! Despite polling well with evangelicals, he’s also been criticized with members of the group for his values. He’s said in the past that the Bible is his favorite book, but when he was asked in an interview over Summer 2015 to name his favorite verse, he demurred. He’s apparently referred to communion as his “little wine and cracker.” Oof.
