We’ll be honest, we’re not sure how we feel about this one. Melissa McCarthy hit the red carpet at the 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards on Jan. 17 wearing a questionable green, fauna-print gown and it’s giving us some pretty mixed feelings. Were you a fan? VOTE below!
Whether on-screen or on the red carpet, Melissa McCarthy, 45, has never been afraid to experiment with her look, and you better believe the same held true at the 21st annual Critics’ Choice Awards on Jan. 17. The comedic actress took a bit of a risk by hitting the red carpet in a green fauna-inspired gown that completely covered up her killer new body. It was certainly a different look than we’re used to seeing on the actress and one that we’re not entirely sure we’re a fan of — are you? VOTE below!
Sorry Melissa, but we’re just not sure how we feel about this one. The ‘Best Actress in a Comedy’ nominee went for an outdoorsy-inspired look on the Critics’ Choice Awards red carpet, stepping out in a green floor-length gown that was decorated from head-to-toe in a palm frond print. While the Spy actress herself was absolutely glowing, her dress was unfortunately a bit of a drag due in large part to its ill-fitting silhouette and the strange chiffon neckline tie that hung down the center. Yeah, definitely not your best, Melissa.
Melissa McCarthy’s Risky Critics’ Choice Awards Dress — Were You A Fan Of Her Leaf-Print Look?
Thankfully, what the Tammy star’s dress lacked in Hollywood-esque glamour, her hair and makeup more than made up for on the red carpet. While the funny woman has always been beyond gorgeous, she’s been looking better than ever as of late after not only losing more than 50 pounds, but also debuting a glossy new hair makeover! Prior to hitting the carpet, her husband Ben Falcone posted a pic from the car writing, “@melissamccarthy and I have new hair cuts and fresh undies… Critics Choice Awards here we come!” While it may not be a drastic cut — she appears to have just shed a couple inches — it does look incredibly shiny and healthy and really, isn’t that all that matter when it comes to a hairdo?
In addition to acting in some of our favorite comedies this year, Melissa also recently celebrated the launch of her new clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, which was created with the hopes of inspiring women of all sizes. “Women come in all sizes. Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that’s technically ‘plus-size,’ so you’re taking your biggest category of people and telling them, ‘You’re not really worthy,’ she told Refinery29 of her line’s creation. “I find that very strange.” Well said, Melissa! The funny woman and former Fashion Institute of Technology student continued to say that some “very big retailers” are going to help her “chip away” at how plus-size clothes are placed in stores, sparking what we hope may be an industry-wide revolution. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back Melissa!
