Happy Birthday, Betty! The actress turned 94 on Jan. 17 and experienced quite a year. Help us celebrate the last 12 months by remembering some of her year’s highlights!
Betty just doesn’t slow down! The well loved star, who turned 94 on Jan. 17, has had one amazing year. From an appearance on SNL to posting her first Instagram, 93 certainly treated Betty well! Celebrate her big day with us and take a look at all that’s happened in the past year!
Betty started off the year strong with an emotional win at the People’s Choice Awards in January 2015 when she received a standing ovation along with the award for Favorite TV Icon. In her acceptance speech, she said she was shocked to still be winning awards after so many decades in the biz — come on Betty, don’t sell yourself short! “Thank you with all my heart,” the Golden Girls alum said. No Betty, thank YOU!
After Betty was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys in April, she got emotional once again. “So much thanks to you and your mothers and fathers and grandmothers and grandfathers,” she said in her acceptance speech with a wink. After over 70 years as an actress, Betty’s two major awards this past year were completely well deserved! You go Betty!
But Betty’s year didn’t stop there, oh no! She was the envy of women everywhere when she passionately locked lips with none other than Bradley Cooper during Saturday Night Live‘s 40th Anniversary Special in February. She really stole the show as her entrance into “The Californians” sketch earned some of the loudest cheers of the night!
When the comedian finally joined Instagram in June, she gave us everything we never knew we needed! Her first pic? A shot of her sharing a bottle of wine with her Hot in Cleveland co-stars of six years. She even used the hashtag, “HOTFinale” in her caption. What a natural-born pro!
Faux tragedy struck in September when word spread that the very-much alive actress was actually…dead!? The world freaked out, but thankfully Betty took to Insta and proved to the world that no, she was in fact not dead. Phew! Her photographic evidence was taken on the set of Bones, when Betty guest starred in an October episode, which of course she slayed.
Here’s to another year older, Betty! We wish you the best!
