The year 2016 is well underway, and this year is going to be full of epic movies. From ‘Suicide Squad’ to ‘Finding Dory,’ here’s our list of the 16 movies of 2016 you NEED to see!
If you thought 2015 was a big year in movies, think again. With Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War, Moana and more coming out in 2016, the new year is going to feature back-to-back blockbusters. Check out our list of the biggest films that you’re going to be obsessed with this year!
Kicking off 2016 is one of the most highly-anticipated film adaptations — The 5th Wave. The movie, based on the young adult novel, will star Chloe Grace Moretz and the cutie from Jurassic World, Nick Robinson. Deadpool and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hit theaters a few weeks later. Ryan Reynolds has already had us laughing out loud in the trailers. No one can do snarky like Ryan. You’ll never look at Pride and Prejudice the same way again after seeing the new Lily James film.
It’s going to be a HUGE year for superhero movies. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, X-Men: Apocalypse and Captain America: Civil War will all be released in 2016. Many of these superheroes aren’t going to be working together, either. Batman and Superman are going to be at each other’s throats in Dawn of Justice, and Captain America and Iron Man will be at odds over Bucky in Civil War.
The super villains are going to be giving the superheroes a run for their money this year. Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith and more are teaming up for Suicide Squad. They play the world’s biggest villains, but this time they’re saving the world, not destroying it. We all can’t wait to see Jared’s Joker.
But it’s not all about superhero movies this year. Fans of the Harry Potter movies will be treated to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, starring Eddie Redmayne. Star Wars fans, who have to wait until 2017 for the next movie in the saga, will be getting a special treat with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Disney is also introducing its first Polynesian princess in Moana. The movie will center on Moana as she travels to a fabled island with her demi-god Maui. Finding Dory, the exciting follow-up to 2003’s Finding Nemo, will be released June 17, 2016.
