Amy Schumer might have lost a Golden Globe to bestie Jennifer Lawrence, but now she’s getting a huge honor at the Critics’ Choice Awards as the Most Valuable Person in Film and TV for making us laugh so hard in 2015! Go Amy!
Amy Schumer hardly had a “trainwreck” of a year in 2015, as she broke out so huge in both film and TV. Her amazing talent is not going unnoticed by the Critics’ Choice Awards, who named her the year’s “MVP” for being pretty much the most awesome star we could ever hope for. Of course, there was also her breakout year she had with the hit film Trainwreck and her hilarious Comedy Central Show Inside Amy Schumer, so naturally the critics had to shower we with some serious love!
“Now you’re going to resent be cause you have to stand,” she remarked about her standing ovation before saying ” I am plus, plus sized actress Amy Schumer.” She revealed, “I’m so happy I don’t have to talk about how autobiographical it was anymore,” regarding the nature of her first film, then thanking the critics with, “I felt very seen and heard by you guys and understood.” She went on to joke about her gut, her weight and her “brave” Annie Leibovitz underwear photo. She even have a “Hi Ben” shout-out to her boyfriend Ben Hanisch as she wrapped up her speech.
It was her director and co-writer on her summer hit Trainwreck, Judd Apatow, who have her a proud introduction and called her the “funniest person in the world,” and joked that the critics made up the award to get her there. He then listed off a list of all her accomplishments throughout 2015, from hosting SNL to her numerous other triumphs.
Amy looked sultry in a white tank dress with her long blonde hair flowing in waves, and no accessories except her glowing spray tan. In the audience prior to the award, she noted she was drinking a margarita with salt on the rocks because they didn’t have any chardonnay, giving the audience a good laugh and scolding from host T.J. Miller to not be funnier than the host! Her hot new boyfriend Ben, who was there sitting next to her throughout the event to help celebrate her awesome moment. After all, he was there to sweetly console her when she lost the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Jan. 10 to BFF Jennifer Lawrence. What a keeper!
