President Obama has spoken… and this time he’s revealed who his favorite rapper is. While he admires Drake as an ‘entertainer,’ he just doesn’t cut it as the top rapper in President Obama’s eyes. Do we sense some shade?
Uh oh! President Barack Obama, 54, is leaving Drake, 29, in the dust! The President of the United States managed to diss the “Hotline Bling” rapper — admitting that he was not the Commander-in-chief’s favorite rapper of the last year. Ouch!
President Obama sat down for a YouTube Q&A with vlogger Adande Thorne to discuss a variety of topics, including foreign affairs, political initiatives, and hip hop! So, when asked who his favorite rapper is, President Obama said, “Gotta go with Kendrick. I’m just saying. I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer, but Kendrick—his lyrics, his last album was outstanding. Best album, I think, of last year.”
It’s no surprise that Obama favors the Compton-born rapper. He’s also revealed his favorite song of 2015 was Kendrick’s hit “How Much A Dollar Cost.” Stream Kendrick’s music on Amazon now! The pair recently got together to discuss the Pay It Forward campaign, an initiative that encourages the mentoring of inner city youth.
Kendrick even shared a video of his time in the Oval Office with President Obama and talked about his role as a mentor to kids. Kendrick acknowledged that the successes in his life are due to the key mentors he had when he was younger.
“I look where I’m at today and realize that most of my success is owed to the mentors that was in my life,” he said in the video. “I sat down with President Barack Obama and shared the same views—topics concerning the inner cities, the problems, the solutions and further more embracing the youth—both being aware that mentoring saves lives.”
