Derek Zoolander is back and better than ever, on the cover of ‘Vogue’ magazine’s March issue, where he posed alongside his co-star, Penelope Cruz. Inside, they dished about the long-awaited sequel — but it’s the epic photo shoot that we really can’t get enough of.
We cannot wait to see Ben Stiller, 50, reprise his role as Derek Zoolander in the highly-anticipated sequel — and now we have a high-fashion magazine cover to hold us over until the movie’s release on Feb. 12. Ben Stiller reprised his role for the March 2016 cover of VOGUE, where he posed alongside the smoldering Penelope Cruz, 41 — and the photo shoot, lensed by famed photog Annie Leibovitz, is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.
The sequel is set for release 15 years after the original movie — and it features more celeb cameos than you could imagine. While everyone from <strong>Justin Bieber to Marc Jacobs was shot, there is one person Ben wishes they worked with. “Karl Lagerfeld,” he said. “We didn’t get Karl Lagerfeld. I would have liked to get Karl. I came close.”
“He’s iconic,” Ben continued. “It breaks my heart. Maybe if we ever do another. . . .”
While they didn’t land Karl, Ben, accompanied by his costar, Owen Wilson, did burst on the scene at Paris Fashion Week during the Valentino show, where the audience and the twitterverse exploded with excitement at seeing two of their favorite models shut down the catwalk with an epic walk off. “I kept saying, ‘Why are we even being secretive? It’s not so big a deal . . . we’re going to walk out there to a smattering of applause,’ ” Owen, who plays Hansel, said. He called the uproar “the best reaction you could have imagined.”
Penelope also welcomed the response. “It’s refreshing to see powerful people in the industry laughing at it,” she told the mag. “It’s good for the film, but it’s also very healthy.”
