Who saw this coming? No one! The surprise first trailer for ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ dropped on Jan. 15. The sequel to the 2008 hit film already looks absolutely insane. Click to WATCH!
Cloverfield fans, you’re in luck! A follow-up to the 2008 movie is on its way, much to the surprise of everyone. J.J. Abrams secretly put together the sequel, and the first crazy trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane has been released. Note to self: it may not be a good idea to go outside in the real world when there are monsters on the loose. Just saying.
The trailer starts out simple enough. John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. have family time playing LIFE, doing puzzles, etc. They look like a super chill family. The only hint we get that things may not be A-OK is when the entire home starts to shake.
Everything is not what it seems, though. It appears that John’s character is trying to keep the others from venturing into the outside world. However, he can’t stop Mary’s character, who smacks him in the face with a bottle and runs to the opening of the underground shelter, desperate to get out. John’s character runs after her and begs her not to open the door.
Before she can turn the key, the girl looks outside and is shocked at what she sees. Is the world completely destroyed after the events of the 2008 movie? Will she think twice before opening the door?
This movie comes as a shock to most fans, who had no idea this had even filmed. “The idea came up a long time ago during production,” producer J.J. told Collider. “We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible.”
10 Cloverfield Lane will hit theaters on March 11.
