Head back out to your local convenience store — you can still win BIG in the Powerball. The next drawing will take place on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 11 p.m., so you still have some time to purchase your ticket…and the jackpot stands at $40 million right no — that’s still a $24.8 million cash value. And that’s AFTER three people won the record $1.5 billion pot on Jan. 13.
The three winning tickets were in Florida, California and Tennessee, but there were other people all over the country who still made out pretty well. Some lucky gamblers in Arizona, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Jersey, Tennessee and Texas were Match 5 Power Play Winners, receiving $2 million each, and 23 states had Match 5 winners who will get $1 million.
The Powerball jackpot had been growing since November, and when it reached $900 million on Jan. 9, people were already shocked and in awe — so imagine the frenzy when it climbed past the number of digits that can be read on the lotto boards! Before this, the highest amount on record was $656 million, which was won by three people back in 2012.
Clearly, $40 million is NOT chump change, so if you have a few bucks to spare, it may be worth it to invest in some tickets once again for this weekend. Especially since so many people probably won’t be playing after these last few weeks, right?!
HollywoodLifers, will you enter the Powerball drawing this time around? OR are you waiting until it’s a higher amount again?
