While most actors would prefer their character’s story end on a happy note, it turns out Lucy Hale is hoping for something a bit more morbid for the ‘Pretty Little Liars’ gang. In a new interview, the actress reveals that when the show does eventually end, she wants it to go out ‘really tragically.’ Umm, say what?!
Ok, we definitely did not see this one coming. While it’s still unclear whether or not Pretty Little Liars will call it quits after the show’s seventh season, Lucy Hale has already determined how she would like the show to end and get ready, because it’s pretty depressing.
Most actors would wish only good things for their characters, but it looks like Lucy isn’t one of them. The actress, who plays Aria Montgomery on the show, recently opened up to E! News about the fate of the series, including her hopes for Aria’s future. “I mean, I used to say, ‘Oh, I want the girls to end up happy and live an A-free life,’ but I kind of want it to end really tragically,” Lucy told E! News. “I know that sounds bad but I want people to be really upset like they’ve lost something when the show ends, ’cause I know my favorite shows have ended that way…Yeah, so, a tragic ending. I’ll just leave it at that.”
Following the show’s mid-season premiere on Jan. 12, not much has been revealed of the character’s fates, least of all the identity of what show creator Marlene King has called “Uber A,” the show’s murderous new villain. So, what could a tragic ending to the show entail then? Could it have something to do with a failed Ezria reunion? Sadly, Lucy kept relatively mum on that subject, admitting only, “You get to see them in a new light in this upcoming season. I want to believe they haven’t seen each other at all in the five years [between the events of last season and this one]. But they create a new kind of bond and a special bond. There’s always that chemisty. Even trying to play ‘just friends,’ me and Ian [Thomas] just have chemistry because we’re used to playing that. I’m a big fan of them together.” But seriously, who isn’t?
Needless to say, the show’s mid-season premiere kicked off with a bang when a person we’ve known for the entire series was found dead! Without giving too much away, we’ll just say that unfortunately for Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Aria, the shocking death ultimately led to them being made the prime suspects in the case, which means there’s still plenty of drama to come!
