We’re so nervous for Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily. When ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Season 6B premieres on Jan. 12, we’ll be introduced to the new ‘A,’ who is ‘much more mature, a little funnier,’ and … ‘deadlier.’ Gulp. Watch the cast discuss the new season here!
On the Jan. 12 season premiere of Pretty Little Liars, fans will see the girls return to Rosewood after five years have passed. And even though they’re just there temporarily to help Alison (Sasha Pieterse) get Charlotte (Vanessa Ray) out of jail, they’ll likely regret their decision to go back home because as the cast revealed in a new interview, there’s a new “A” and this person is a bigger threat than they’ve ever faced before.
“Pretty much everything starts unraveling when we arrive back in Rosewood,” Lucy Hale told Zap2it in a new interview. “They’re definitely hesitant, none of them want to go back. They want to leave that life behind them.”
“I will say the new ‘A’ is much more mature, a little funnier, but deadlier. It’s not like, ‘I’m gonna expose your secret,’ it’s ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ so the stakes are heightened,” she added.
Sasha also said, “It’s a classier ‘A’ because whoever this is has so much more power.”
This new “A” is described as “an old friend” by Zap2it.
And interestingly, the new PLL will feel a lot like a Stephen King novel. Executive producer Joseph Dougherty said, “With this five-year jump, we are even more saying hello to a kind of long-form Stephen King story. He will tell you a story about kids who go through something, a trauma, and the second half of the story is how they’ve carried that into their life. That’s where we are now. They’re informed by what happened to them.”
We. Can’t. Wait.
Pretty Little Liars returns on Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
