The infamous homophobic clerk Kim Davis made an unexpected appearance at President Obama’s final State of the Union address, where he threw just a teensy bit of shade. But then Twitter totally unleashed on the dowdy civil servant. See the tweets, here!
Kim Davis, 50, shocked everyone once again by showing up to her worst enemy President Obama’s final State of the Union address, and Twitter had a field day making fun of her. See what the Twittersphere’s saying about the notoriously homophobic town clerk, here!
Get ready to laugh your ass off, because fan’s reactions to Kim showing up to Obama’s address are pure gold. The Rowan Country, Kentucky town clerk made headlines in June for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses after it became federally mandated to do so. Considering that was a measure that Obama was strongly involved it, the two don’t have much common ground, and we can’t imagine that Kim supports anything he does. But, she was at his final SOTU nonetheless.
Fans, however, weren’t going to let her passing appearance slide quietly. As soon as she was shown, Obama said “democracy grinds to a halt without a willingness to compromise.” Followed by “our public life withers when only the most extreme voices get all of the attention.” Well, that was some definite shade toward the woman that refused to do her job if it meant supporting gay marriage. After that, Twitter blew up with hilarious jokes and comparisons. Here are a few of our faves:

When this guy just couldn’t grasp why Kim was invading their safe space and felt very Mean Girls about the whole thing.

When another movie reference came to mind and it couldn’t have been more spot-on.
#KimDavis is what happens when women become too invested in that Gone w/the Wind drapes dress scene.

This fan was reminded of a very similar situation where they were uncomfortable.

SCATTER! She’s here!
And this guy who was just disappointed to have to bring her with us into the new year.
I was hoping 2016 would be Kim Davis-free. Dammit Twitter.
