Never seen an episode of ‘Pretty Little Liars?’ Not to worry. Toby himself (Keegan Allen) says that new viewers will easily be able to start watching on Jan. 12!
Pretty Little Liars officially returns tonight but for those of you who are not caught up with the ladies and their mischievous ways, you actually don’t need to binge the past five and a half seasons. HollywoodLife.com caught up with Keegan Allen right before the premiere to get some insight in what’s coming up now, five years later in the liars’ lives.

Of course, we had to chat with Keegan about what this whole change from ABCFamily to Freeform means for the show — and how the time jump will change everything. “I think the new season is amazing and we did something collectively as a cast and fans of our own show — we wanted people to not have to binge watch,” Keegan told us. “New viewers can just jump right in and experience the show along with people that have been watching since season one. For people who have been with us since season one, it’s just a totally different show now. We’ve made changes in this five year jump. Stream Pretty Little Liars for free on Amazon Prime here!
One thing Keegan couldn’t say was the future for Toby and Spencer. Their status will be “a huge point” of the season, but as they touched on during the 5 Years Later special, Toby had stayed in Rosewood and as a police officer saved someone’s life. “That person will impact his life in some way,” he told us.
We also know that just because “A” is gone, the new big bad will be well, bigger and badder — and this time, the cast does know who it is. “They twist and turn to us too, but yes we know this one.”
Pretty Little Liars airs on Freeform at 8PM ET on Jan. 12!
