The crossover will happen over the course of episode 14 of the shows. “Stefan will go to New Orleans in a Vampire Diaries episode and then he will remain in New Orleans in The Originals to help Klaus deal with a problem that is super specific to Stefan’s survival,” shows’ creator Julie Plec revealed at TCA, according to our sister site Variety.
So with Stefan and Klaus both involved, is there room for a little Klaroline action? “There is a presence of Caroline (Candice King) buried within that, but I can’t really say in what context,” Julie continued.
It’s been a long time coming for this type of crossover event. The last time Klaus was anywhere near The Vampire Diaries gang was back in season 5. Klaroline shippers will remember that day fondly. Julie admitted that she wanted to wait until it was the right moment for the crossover before going forward.
“So we’re sitting in the room, and the plot point is that Stefan is in trouble and he’s being pursued by means of magic so how can we get him safe? Well, let’s get him to a place where there’s no magic. And I was like, ‘Oh sh-t! St. James Infirmary! There’s a place where there’s no magic that can work in New Orleans!’ And the whole writer’s room just went, ‘Yay! Finally!’ because they’ve been waiting so long for that opportunity,” Julie said.
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals will return on a new night, Fridays, on Jan. 29. Start prepping for the crossover now!
