Yeah, you heard us: Anyone who buys the home will have to agree to a stipulation that Hugh Hefner, 89, is still able to reside inside. But, I mean, the place is pretty huge, so chances are the new owner would barely even cross paths with the magazine publisher, right? The mansion is 22,000 square feet and boasts a whopping 29 rooms on more than five acres of land!
The home features “every amenity imaginable,” according to a press release — it even has a zoo license! “This is the right time to seek a buyer for this incredible property who understands the role the Mansion has played for our brand and enables us to continue to reinvest in the transformation of our business,” Scott Flanders, Playboy Enterprises CEO, said in a statement. “The Playboy Mansion has been a creative center for Hef as his residence and workplace for the past 40 years, as it will continue to be if the property is sold.”
Interestingly, it looks like the mansion will go for much less than $200 million, according to TMZ. The site reports that the house itself is nothing special, it’s the land it’s sitting on that is really important, and a similar lot recently sold for only $60 million. Hmmm..interesting. There is a lot of history here, though, so the home could probably sell for more like $80 or $90 million, sources told TMZ. Still nothing to scoff at!
HollywoodLifers, do you think $200 million is a fair asking price for the Playboy mansion? Do you think it’s fair that Hef still wants to live there after selling it?
