Well, that’s pretty awkward. After America Ferrera and Eva Longoria presented an award at the Golden Globe Awards, and joked about getting mixed up because of their race, MTV Australia posted and then deleted the most unfortunate tweet. And now, fans are defending the actresses.
While presenting an award at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 10, America Ferrera, 31, and Eva Longoria, 40, poked fun at the fact that white people can’t tell the difference between Latina actresses. And then, following their speech, MTV Australia tweeted an awkward joke before deleting it.
“Where are the English subtitles? We have no idea what @AmericaFerrera and @EvaLongoria are saying #GoldenGlobes,” MTV Australia tweeted. But after getting a lot of backlash, they deleted their tweet and posted the following apology: “@AmericaFerrera @EvaLongoria we meant no offense — just playing on the joke made already by Eva and America themselves.”
Sadly, it wasn’t enough to satisfy Twitter users. Check out their tweets below.
