Disney Channel star Michael Galeota has passed away at the young age of 31, from natural causes. ‘The Jersey’ star had been complaining of abdominal pains the week before his death.
Michael Galeota, who made a name for himself in the Disney Channel sitcom The Jersey, suddenly died of reported natural causes on January 11, in Glendale, California. He was just 31 years old. Michael’s body was reportedly found by concerned friends who went to check on him after he had been hospitalized for abdominal pains the week prior. May he rest in peace.
Sometime in the week leading up to his death, Michael was checked into the hospital after complaints of severe abdominal pains, according to TMZ; he left on Wednesday, against doctor advice to stay for further treatment.
His friends became worried when Michael stopped responding to any forms of communication on January 10. One of his friends went to Michael’s Glendale home on Sunday, January 10 to check on him, and knew something was wrong when nobody answered. The friend climbed through the window, and found Michael’s body lying on the living room. This is truly terrible.
Michael had a medical history of hypertension, high cholesterol and diverticulitis — a condition in which the digestive track becomes inflamed, according to TMZ. His official cause of death is being listed as natural causes, pending his autopsy results. No word on when those will be in.
Michael is best known for starring at Nick Lighter on The Jersey, which aired on the Disney Channel from 1999-2004. The football sitcom made him an instantly recognizable face. While that was his breakout role, Michael had already racked up a roster of parts in films like Secret Santa, Bushwhacked and Clubhouse Detectives, as well as guest spots on several TV shows. May he rest in peace.
