This is so intense. An explosive first video of the raid, during which the Mexican marines captured El Chapo, has been released, and it’s super dramatic. The marines were actually wearing GoPro cameras during the raid, so even though you weren’t there, now you can feel like you were. Watch the video here.
Thanks to the Mexican marines, not only is El Chapo back in custody, but their explosive raid was captured on video due to their use of GoPro cameras. Ah, isn’t technology grand? Seriously, it’s like watching a game of Call of Duty come to life.
Six months after his glorious jailbreak in July 2015, the 57-year-old felon, whose full name is Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera, was captured by the Mexican marines on Jan. 8. But it wasn’t an easy feat. As seen in the newly released video on TMZ, the troops were heavily armed as they stormed the house. And luckily they were armed because a major gun battle went down inside — they released both grenades and bullets, as the marines were met by about one dozen well-armed guards who were prepared for a lethal fight. Unfortunately, one solider suffered non-life threatening injuries during the mission, which was named “Operation Black Swan” by the Mexican government, TMZ claims.
El Chapo had actually escaped the house through a secret tunnel, but he was eventually apprehended when he was stopped on a highway by Mexican Federal Police, ABC News claims. El Chapo is now back in prison, while his lawyers fight his extradition to the U.S.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Are you glad the footage of the raid was released? Should El Chapo be extradited to the U.S.? Tell us how you feel.
