Gina’s makeup looked flawless on the red carpet! The ‘Best Actress In a TV Series (Comedy)’ nominee went for an ultra-glamorous look, opting for fresh, glowing skin and a glossy, nude lip. For a similar look, we love Maybelline New York Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Nude Embrace.
In keeping with the youthful beaut look, celebrity makeup artist Carissa Ferreri further enhanced Gina’s almond-shaped eyes by lining them with black liquid eyeliner and applying two different types of lashes across the upper lash line. “I wanted to create a regal and classic look on Gina for the Golden Globes because she felt like such a princess in her Zac Posen dress,” said Carissa. “I used Ardell Soft Touch Lashes #150 and then added #318 over for the real WOW effect! My new favorite red carpet combo!”
Having rocked a simple ponytail for her appearance at the Golden Globes pre-parties on Jan. 9, Gina decided to up the glam factor for the actual awards show, opting instead for a subtle half-up-half-down style. To create the look, hairstylist Paul Norton started by prepping Gina’s hair with Joico Power Gel and Joico Heat Set before blow drying it a GHD Hair Dryer and a GHD Ceramic Vented Radial Brush. Wanting to give the ends a rounded feel, Paul made sure to leave each section on the round brush for several seconds before removing from the heat.
Next, he used the GHD platinum styler to smooth out the hair, focusing only in the mid-shaft area so that the roots remained voluminous, but the ends slightly bent. Paul then sprayed the roots of the hair with Joico Hair Shake and back combed the root area around her crown, as well as the majority of the back area of her head. Using the GHD White Platinum styler, Paul then took the front center area of Gina’s hair and straightened it back away from her face before using Joico’s Crème Wax Texture and Shine to help keep it in place.
Next, he used GHD’s Curve Soft Curl Iron to bend the 3-inches of the bottom of her hair back and away from her face. Once done curling, Paul used his fingers to rake though her hair before spraying her ends with Joico Flip Turn Hair Spray to help set it in place.
As far as her glowing skin, makeup artist Carissa Ferreri used St. Tropez Self Tan Luxe Dry Oil to give her a flawless finish. If you ask us, this may just be her best beauty look yet!
Unfortunately, Gina’s Golden Globes celebrations got off to kind of a shaky start after the official Twitter account for the awards show sent out a tweet that confused her with fellow Latino actress American Ferrera, not once, but twice! The Ugly Betty alum was about to address the crowd at the Golden Globe nominations ceremony on Dec. 10 when its Twitter account sent out the following: The @GoldenGlobes noms are about to start ! @HereIsGina @chloegmoretz @Imangelabassett #DennisQuaid #GoldenGlobes.” And just when you thought they couldn’t make it any worse, they followed it up with this tweet: “@HereIsGina is kicking off the @goldenglobes nominations announcements.” Naturally, the internet exploded!
Fortunately for them, Gina was far too busy celebrating her Best Actress In A TV Series (Comedy) nomination to care, taking to Twitter instead to tweet: “Speechless gratitude.” We are so excited for Gina and love her on Jane The Virgin. She actually won a Golden Globe in 2015 in the same category so we bet she has a good chance this year.
