Brie Larson is one of our favorite actresses, and her performance in ‘Room’ has certainly taken her career to another level. That’s why we’re so happy she won the Golden Globe Award on Jan. 10!
Brie Larson looked amazing on the red carpet at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards, so she already was considered a winner before she even accepted the award for Best Actress In A Drama during the show. But taking home the trophy was like icing on the cake.
Brie actually thanked the novelist Emma Donoghue first in her acceptance speech, which many fans loved. Others said it was heartfelt, funny and to the point.
“Thank you so much,” she gushed during her speech. She then added: “To anyone I forgot, I’ll write you a thank you card.”
To her co-star, Jacob Tremblay, she said he was, “half of this award, half of my performance.”
We’re super happy that Brie won, but she had some tough competition this year, so it almost didn’t happen. She was up against Cate Blanchett for Carol, Saoirse Ronan for Room, Rooney Mara for Carol, and Alicia Vikander for The Danish Girl. Everyone was magnificent in their own right, of course, but the Hollywood Foreign Press felt that Brie had the better performance. And we couldn’t agree more.
It was Brie’s first Golden Globe nomination and win.
