It seems mommy dearest can’t quite keep her nose out of daughter Bristol Palin’s business. The former Alaska Governor has taken to the media to slam her daughter’s ex-fiancé, Dakota Meyer, because he wants joint custody of his newborn daughter.
Bristol Palin, 25, gave birth to daughter Sailor Grace, two weeks ago (Dec. 23), and now her ex-fiancé, Dakota Meyer, 27, is claiming to be the biological father and wants joint custody. This is not sitting well with Sarah Palin, 51, who claims Dakota just wants money.
You didn’t expect Sarah to just sit back and watch this unfold without her. She told ET that, “For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby.” Although Bristol never publicly revealed the identity of the father, all signs pointed to Dakota whom she was engaged to at the time of conception. Now that their daughter Sailor Grace is here, family drama is starting to unfold. Legal papers which were obtained by TMZ, show that not only is Dakota seeking joint custody, but he is also asking for child support.
The former Governor of Alaska went on to say, “Paramount to the entire Palin family is the health and welfare of Sailor Grace,” while claiming that the baby’s father is attempting to “save face.” As for Bristol, she hasn’t commented to the media, but her rep, David Martin, released a statement, saying: “My values are such that a real American hero doesn’t ask for child support.” Wow. Keep in mind, Dakota is a Marine Corps veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient who fought for our country. No matter what petty legal drama is happening between them, Dakota is a hero and should be treated as such.
Bristol got engaged to Dakota in March 2015 and planned to get married two months later in May. Sadly, that didn’t happen. One week before the wedding was set to transpire, the nuptials were called off.
