Fall Out Boy just gave *NSYNC fans all of the feels! In the new video for their ‘Irresistible’ collaboration with Demi Lovato, FOB spoofed the 90s boy band’s classic ‘It’s Gonna Be Me’ video — and even reunited some of the members. Watch the epic vid here!
It may be 2016, but Fall Out Boy has started off the year by bringing it back to 2000. The rock group paid tribute to one of the boy band greats, *NSYNC, in their latest video for “Irresistible” featuring Demi Lovato, and it’s everything a fangirl could ever want. FOB not only pulled off a video that is almost an exact replica of *NSYNC’s toy store-themed “It’s Gonna Be Me” vid, but they managed to reunite Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick for the clip too! Basically, prepare for your boy band dreams to come true!
After showing *NSYNC’s marionette dolls on an assembly line run by Demi and Chris, we see some new dolls come down the conveyor belt: Fall Out Boy bobbleheads! All of the sudden, the video brings us right back to the toy store where *NSYNC’s dolls made quite a scene in their own vid. Once they burst out of their boxes, the Fall Out Boy dolls don’t quite break into a boy band dance like *NSYNC would, but instead create their own toy store adventures. We can’t handle the nostalgia happening here!
While “store employee” Joey seems to want nothing to do with the pop-punk dolls mocking the boy band’s marionettes, Demi is totally into it. She spots the guys doing their thing on the shelves and rocks out. We can only imagine that she was a huge fan of the *NSYNC tribute!
As if the spoof isn’t amazing enough, Fall Out Boy gave quite the description for the vid! “What if in the NSYNC video for “It’s Gonna Be Me” there was an analog to the story? Where in the same store there was a dollar bin full of toys that no one really wanted that would band together like the misfit, offbrand little outsiders they were. ‘Irresistible’ is the video for that story, it’s about the toys no one ever wanted come to life,” the band wrote on its Instagram. (They even shaded Directioners with a #sorry1Dfans hashtag!)
So how did the FOB guys pulled together such an amazing remake of “It’s Gonna Be Me”? While we wouldn’t doubt it if Joey and Chris offered some assistance, but Fall Out Boy actually enlisted the same director! Wayne Isham, who helped create the original, also took charge of FOB’s vid. No wonder it’s so “Irresistible”! Now, don’t mind us while we go watch this vid on repeat and blast some No Strings Attached…
