“The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division made recovery of the body of Craig M. Craig went missing after his boat capsized and his friend, Chase, was found dead. Unfortunately due to the inclement weather conditions, the search for Craig was called off on Monday night, Dec. 28, and scheduled to resume on Tuesday morning, Dec. 29. The desperate rescue attempt lasted for a full week, with Craig’s wife, Helen Wisner, revealed she was remaining hopeful as recently as Jan. 3, but it simply wasn’t enough.
“Searching for Craig on a friend’s boat this morning,” she wrote on Instagram.”We located a cove that looked promising — officers and one search & rescue K9 are currently searching this area. Hopefully positive news will follow this afternoon. #craigstrickland #prayersforcraig #powerofprayer.”
On Sunday, Dec. 27, Craig retweeted his friend, Chase, joking about the pair possibly not returning from their trip due to the nasty weather. In an eerie turn of events, those were the last tweets sent from both of their accounts before the boat capsized, and it seemingly foreshadowed their tragic fate. Craig’s dog, Sam, was found alive after the accident.
