Happy 2016! New Year’s Eve was a fabulous night, and there wasn’t a better place to be than NYC! If you didn’t get a chance to watch the ball drop in Times Square, you can click through to watch it happen!
Watching the ball drop in Times Square on New Years’s Eve a tradition that dates back to 1907, but sometimes, you’re just too busy partying (or working!) to catch the show! That’s why HollywoodLife.com grabbed a video of the amazing countdown to 2016 so you can see the epic moment! Click through to watch!
Isn’t it beautiful! Seeing the ball drop in Times Square is an experience unlike any other, if the screams and cheers of more than a million people in the crowd didn’t clue you in! NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio pushed the button that began the 60 second countdown to the New Year, as the massive crowd shouted along. An illuminated sign at the bottom of the skyscraper lit up to say “2016” as we reached the new year. Something crazy? That crystal ball is 12 feet in diameter and weighs almost six tons!
Along with those million people in Times Square, an estimated 100 million Americans and 1 billion people worldwide watched it all happen from home. Wow! Undoubtedly, that had a lot to do with the amazing New Year’s Eve shows happening in Times Square that night. Dick Clarks Rockin’ New Year’s Eve With Ryan Seacrest brought together incredible musical acts like One Direction, 5SOS, Carrie Underwood and so many others at the same time! New Year’s Eve With Carson Daly did the same, with an amazing performance by Gwen Stefani.
Those trying to see the ball drop live had to line up at 6:00pm and wait for hours in the cold, with no pee breaks! That’s some serious dedication! But for a lot of people, seeing this happen live is on their bucket list. And now it’s been fulfilled!
Happy New Year, HollywoodLifers! Did you see the ball drop last night, or is this your first time? Tell us in the comments!
