With 2016 right around the corner, we’re prepping our DVRs for a lot of amazing TV. From JLo’s new police drama to Jane Lynch’s new comedy, it’s women who will be dominating the silver screens.
There was so much great TV in 2015, but it’s about to get even better! Jennifer Lopez will take on New York City in Shades of Blue; Katherine McNamara will attempt to live up to The Mortal Instruments books in Shadowhunters; and Sarah Wayne Callies will return to TV for Colony. So, here’s all the ladies you should keep an eye on in 2016!
Let’s start with JLo, the 45-year-old mom of two who has so many things going on right now. Not only is she about to start her residency in Las Vegas, she i sthe star of NBC’s new show, Shades of Blue, and is returning to judge the final season of American Idol. Of course, she’s always a power woman, year after year, but this is about to be a huge one for her!
Another one we’re stoked about is Colony, which features the return of Sarah Wayne Callies. We fell in love with her on The Walking Dead and from what we’ve already seen (trust me), Colony is about to be your next guilty pleasure. Alongside the stunning Josh Holloway, Sarah plays Katie Bowman, a wife, mother and bar owner who’s life drastically changes. The show is from the team behind Lost and yes, it’ll keep you on the edge of your seat just like that one did. The show starts Jan. 14 on USA.
You may be most used to seeing Malin Akerman in comedies on the big screen, but you’ll be addicted to her strong, independent character Billions on Showtime. She plays the wife of Damian Lewis (lucky gal), but she doesn’t hide behind her man’s power! “I love a good challenge, [and] I like representing strong women,” she told HollywoodLife.com about her role. “It’s really fun; it’s really well written. I’m excited to see where it goes.”
