Hey there, party girl! You deserve to look your best during the last moments of 2015, and we’re here to help you ring in the new year with a super cute hair style — we’ve got four, one for every type of hair texture and length! Whether you want to rock a ponytail like Zendaya, wavy hair like glam queen Selena Gomez, an adorable bun like Julianne Hough or Kim Kardashian-esque braids, we have expert advice on how you can easily recreate the style at home.
If you’re panicking about how to do your hair on New Year’s Eve — don’t! Top hairstylist Breno Miranda of Louis Licari Salon in New York City has great advice on how to create your perfect party ‘do, starting with a fab ponytail like the one Zendaya has rocked. “A ponytail is a simple style to do and takes just a little effort to make it more glamorous for NYE,” Breno says. “Using a crimper, take sections from the top portion of the hair to add texture and a little volume, then tie it back like you normally would.” Don’t own a crimping iron? No problem! “If hot tools aren’t your thing, then spray and tease the top portion of your head and pull it back for a more classic and chic front-poof ponytail.” Gorgeous!
Our next ‘do can work on just about any length, though it will take a little time to pull off. “Waving your hair is a technique that takes effort to make it look effortless. A bigger curling wand is key to get more of a wave,” Breno advises. “First, use a thickening or texturizing product on wet hair, and dry with a blowdryer. Second, section the top, sides and the back, and curl the hair away from the face by 1 1/2 inch thick strands. The key for a wave is to NOT curl an inch or so towards the end of each strand.” Think more Selena, less Shirley Temple!
If you like to dance the night away, then maybe a topknot that keeps the hair out of your face is more your speed! “A simple knot is boring,” Breno says. “Get creative and fun by braiding the top and sides into French or cornrow braids, making sure to bring it to the top of the crown and knot.” Secure with a trustworthy spray like Rusk Freezing Spray, and you’re good to go! If a bun isn’t your style, try full-on braids like Kim sported this Christmas — so fun.
