The small forward for the New York Knicks, Cleanthony Early, was shot in the knee after being robbed while leaving a strip club. So scary.
Cleanthony Early, 24, was held up by six men wearing ski-masks just moments after leaving a strip club in Maspeth, New York in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Dec. 30. The New York Knicks player was also shot in the right knee during the robbery, according to initial reports.
Around 4:20am on Thursday morning Cleanthony left a club with a lady friend in tow, reports the New York Post. After the pair got into their Uber to head home, three cars rolled up and boxed in their vehicle which forced them to a stop.
At least six men wearing masks that covered their faces ordered Cleanthony, the girl, and the Uber driver out of the vehicle, claims the report. They then robbed Cleanthony of some jewelry, cash, and shot him directly in the right knee. Cleanthony was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York, and is listed as in stable condition. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported from the robbery.
It’s unclear how this tragic injury will affect Cleanthony’s 2015-16 season with the Knicks.
Sadly, just one day earlier, Cleanthony tweeted, “Thank God for today.”
Our thoughts are with Cleanthony as well as his family, friends, and teammates, during this very difficult time.
