Mark’s arrest was initially reported by Crime Watch Daily, which said that the Los Angeles Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Unit issued a search warrant at a Sunland, California, address in the early morning of Dec. 29. According to sources, the address is where Mark currently lives. After the initial report, TMZ confirmed Mark’s arrest, as “more than a thousand images of child sexual exploitation” were found on his computer. He is apparently being taken to the local police station for booking. This is just too crazy!
Officer Matthew Ludwig of the Los Angeles Police Department Office Of Public Information confirmed Mark’s arrest to HollywoodLife.com in a statement, “Our ICAT (Internet Crimes Against Children) team served a search warrant at Mr. Salling’s home. He was arrested for possession of child pornography. Currently, he’s being processed at Metro Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.”
The search warrant was supposedly served after one of Mark’s ex-girlfriends tipped off cops, informing them of his child pornography possession, TMZ reports. The outlet’s sources said that police investigated before their raid to ensure it wasn’t a revenge allegation.
As of 11:45 a.m. PST, law enforcement sources informed TMZ that cops seized Mark’s computer along with other electronic devices, including tablets and cellphones, after finding the images. Mark was apparently “shocked” when police entered his home to search for the photos. Although the outlet was told that Mark has already begun hiring lawyers, he supposedly lives alone, so it will be difficult for him to argue that the images don’t belong to him.
It may seem shocking that Mark would be guilty of such a crime, but this isn’t his first brush with the law. He was sued in 2013 by a woman who claimed Mark committed sexual battery when he forced sex on her without a condom. The case was settled after Mark denied the woman’s charge, but it seems he might not be able to deny his way out of this one.
