After ‘Deflate-Gate,’ Tom Brady knows a thing or two about being accused of cheating. So when Peyton Manning found himself in the center of a HGH-doping scandal, Tom quickly put his ‘full support’ behind Peyton, saying he has nothing but ‘respect’ for his friend.
Tom Brady, 38, normally plays offense, but when he saw his friend, Peyton Manning, 39, was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, the New England Patriots quarterback quickly came to the defense of his fellow quarterback. Tom said that Peyton was one of the best players in the history of the NFL, and that they Denver Broncos star was “tough” enough to handle this alleged doping scandal.
“I would consider him a good friend and you hate to see your good friends go through anything like that,” Tom told radio WEEI on Dec. 28, reports ESPN. During his weekly interview, the Super Bowl champion came to his friend’s side, saying that Peyton has been “a great player for the league, his team [and] for his organizations.”
“He’s been one of the best players to ever play the game. Nobody has more respect for Peyton than I do, and everything he’s accomplished,” Tom added. Tom, who has dealt with the infamous ‘Deflate-Gate’ scandal throughout 2015, said that “Those are always challenging times, but he’s a tough guy, I know that. He’s a very mentally and physically tough guy.”
The origin of Peyton’s “physical toughness” came under fire with an Al Jazeera documentary called The Dark Side. Released online on Dec. 27, the investigation accused the Broncos star of allegedly receiving HGH from a pharmacist at the Guyer Institute in Indianapolis in 2011. During that time, Peyton was playing for the Indianapolis Colts and recovering from surgery. The alleged shipment was delivered to his house under his wife’s name, Ashley Manning, supposedly to erase any connection of Peyton to the institute.
Peyton slammed these allegations as “garbage,” telling ESPN that “There are some more adjectives I’d like to be able to use. It makes me sick. It makes me sick that it brings Ashley into it.” Peyton isn’t the only one trashing these allegations, as Tom is standing by his friend!
Though Tom admitted that he doesn’t “know the details” of the story, Tom “fully support(s) Peyton and my friendship with him over the years. He’s a guy that I can always count on and he’s been someone who has always been so supportive of me.” The Patriots quarterback and future-Hall of Famer said, “He’s a big boy. He knows how the handle things Like I said, he’s a very mentally tough guy.”
What do you think about Tom coming to Peyton’s defense, HollywoodLifers? Do you think he should stand up for Peyton or stay out of it?
