In the final episode of TLC’s three-part special: Jill & Jessa: Counting On, it was the moment both Jessa and Ben have been waiting for — their son’s arrival.
The Duggars — minus Josh, finished up their three-part special on On Dec. 27. The former 19 Kids and Counting stars Jessa and Jill Duggar used this episode to showcase just how different their lives have changed in less than a year. These Duggars sure know how to pack in a lot of family drama in only three episodes.
As Jessa’s baby is ready to make his arrival, she and Ben are still very set on adopting as well. They reveal that after baby Seewald arrives, they are going to start the process of adopting. They don’t know where they’re going to adopt yet, but they haven’t ruled out internationally. As for Jill, her little family is back in Central America and decide to visit an orphanage. While there, they too get inspired to adopt children and admit they’re now considering it.
Later Jill visits a family a health clinic in El Salvador, to see if she can offer her midwifery skills. So, Derick and his mom head to an outdoor market and hunt for rain boots for baby Israel. It’s great to see how well Derick is adjusting to fatherhood — he’s a pro.
Anna Duggar made another appearance in this episode. She came over to Jessa’s house (her starter home with Josh) and started reminiscing. She revealed that after everything, she still trusts that everything will be okay.
Then the big arrival happened. Jessa started to endure excruciating pain while video chatting with Jill. Then, she finally went into labor with her son — three days late. The labor itself lasted more than an entire day, but Jessa was a champ. She delivered a healthy baby boy, but then horror struck. Jessa couldn’t stop bleeding. You hear Michelle Duggar’s voice as she calls into 911. She tells the dispatcher, “Mother is bleeding after birth,” as the footage plays out of Jessa being taken out of her home on a stretcher and placed into an ambulance. Thankfully, the doctors cleared her and everything wound up okay. She revealed jokingly to the cameras that childbirth was a lot worse than she had expected. Spurgeon Seewald is officially the newest member for the Duggar family.
