Robert Downey Jr.‘s identity has been fully restored. And no, that’s not Iron Man talk. The Governor of California reportedly issued the actor a pardon for all of his past drug convictions, so now all of his rights have been given back to him.
Robert Downey Jr. just got the formal pardon from the Governor of California, TMZ reports. The actor allegedly initiated legal proceedings to get the pardon earlier this year. “The D.A. recommended that a ‘certificate of rehabilitation’ be granted by an L.A. County Superior Court judge,” according to the news site, and it went through all the appropriate parties from that point forward. Once the judge signed off on it, it was then forwarded to Governor Jerry Brown. He granted the pardon, and now, Robert Downey Jr. has all of his rights restored, which includes the right to vote.
According to the judge, Robert Downey Jr. has led an “honest and upright life” since his convictions between 1996 and 2002 and exhibited “good moral character.” He has also demonstrated “good conduct in the community,” TMZ further claims.
