Just look at Steve Harvey. Despite having his own talk show, the charismatic host committed a major misstep when he mistakingly crowned Miss Colombia the winner during the 2015 Miss Universe finale on Dec. 20. Still, as awkward as the moment may have been, he’s hardly the first celeb to flub his lines on air (Adele Dazeem, anyone?). Like Steve, John Travolta knows a thing or two about committing a major TV blunder. The actor had a serious misstep at the 2014 Oscars while introducing Broadway legend and Frozen star Idina Menzel. “Please welcome the wickedly talented, one and only Adele Dazeem,” he said while reading the teleprompter. Naturally, the internet exploded with hilarious memes, which all but ensured that John would never live the incident down.
Kendall Jenner experienced an equally as embarrassing moment during her appearance at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. The model-of-the-moment appeared to have had her ex Harry Styles on the brain while introducing the band 5 Seconds of Summer, as she started to call them “One…” before breaking into hysterical laughter.
Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera & More Epic Celebrity TV Flubs
During the live broadcast of the Academy Award nomination announcements in January 2015, Academy president Cheryl Boone experienced a similar fate when she attempted to pronounce renowned cinematographer Richard ‘Dick’ Pope’s name. Standing alongside actor Chris Pine, Cheryl ended up referring to nominee as Dick Poop, a name that ultimately spread like wildfire across the internet.
Forgetting the lyrics to a song, is another huge cause for on-air blunders for celebrities — including some Grammy winners! Christina Aguilera famously sang the incorrect lyrics at 2011’s Super Bowl XLV, while American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina just forgot them all together while performing at during the Detroit Lion and Green Bay Packers 2011 Thanksgiving Day game.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber is even famous for forgetting the lyrics to his own songs! The Biebs totally flubbed the lyrics to his mega-hit “Sorry” while performing at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in November 2015, on top messing up a couple lines of his “Under The Mistletoe” song.
Finally, we can’t bring up TV blunder without mentioning Rick Perry‘s gem of a gaffe during the GOP presidential debate in August 2015. The Republican was attempting to say former president Ronald Reagan‘s name while answering a questions, but sadly pronounced it as Ronald Raven. Naturally, the internet had a field day with it, producing one hilarious meme after the next.
