Looks like confidence got the best of Steve Harvey! Before the Miss Universe 2015 host totally flubbed by announcing the wrong winner, he claimed he was ‘born ready’ for such a prestigious gig. Was it Steve’s pride that made him majorly screw up?
After Steve Harvey, 58, confidently breezed through the entire Miss Universe pageant, the hosting veteran messed up in the biggest way possible when he incorrectly crowned Miss Colombia the winner instead of the true winner, Miss Philippines! While Steve’s flub certainly came as a huge shock to millions around the world, it was perhaps most shocking to Steve himself. Why is that? Because he felt more than ready for the gig going into it!
“I was born ready for this. I’m the guy,” Steve told E! News on the red carpet prior to the live show. “I’m here representing all men — all men who love swimsuits and gowns and makeup and hair and walks in high-heel shoes. I’m representing all men. You can call it chauvinistic if you want to. I’m here representing fellas that are watching the football game.”
Clearly Steve had no expectation of anything going wrong! Ironically, Steve even joked about the fact that the live telecast meant he couldn’t be edited.
“My wife has talked to me not to go too far in,” Steve added. “There’s been some interesting moments just at rehearsal. Here’s the deal, it’s live, they can’t edit me out, so tune in. Here I go!”
Boy, Steve’s probably wishing there would’ve been some editing possible after he committed such a jorjor flub! In fact, a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that Steve is mortified over his error and wants to go into hiding!
To make things more awful for Steve after making such a huge mistake, he had to correct his error on live television before the show was over. He profusely apologized on air, then proceeded to express his regret on his Twitter and Facebook accounts. Considering how awful he feels, we’re thinking he might not be so confident going into the next show!
Do you think Steve’s overconfidence was what caused his huge mistake, HollywoodLifers? Was he a good host other than his flub? Share your thoughts below!
