Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is speaking out for the first time since that incredibly awkward moment when Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was crowned as Miss Universe and then de-crowned all in a matter of minutes. But Pia has some words for Steve Harvey and the Miss Universe organization.
Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is Miss Universe 2015 but it wasn’t an easy road to get there. Pia was shocked as Steve Harvey came out on the stage Dec. 20 and announced to the contestants along with the millions of viewers at home watching, that he had made a horrible mistake and accidentally crowned Miss Colombia. But is Pia incredibly angry that such a mixup like this occurred in the first place?
“It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment,” Pia said after she was crowned backstage. “Very 2015!” Well, that’s one way to look at it. We understand that she has to be careful with her answers and respond with dignity and grace. But the harsh reality is that one woman’s dreams were fulfilled and then totally crushed all within a few minutes. We think Steve should feel absolutely horrible for his mistake. Find out what Miss Colombia has to say about the whole thing!
Steve did make another apology and this time he posted it to his Facebook page: “I made a terrible mistake tonight in announcing the wrong winner and runner-up for the Miss Universe pageant. I know how much pride many countries, fans and most importantly, the contestants take in preparing for this night. I hope that you can forgive me.
All contestants were amazing but I want to specifically apologize to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines again and wholeheartedly. You both represented well for your countries, families and yourselves.”
