Oh, wow. Did the woman who crashed her car into the Las Vegas strip, killing one person, do it as an act of terrorism? Details on this scary situation here.
Lakeisha N. Holloway, 24, is accused of driving her car onto a sidewalk on the Las Vegas, Nev. strip, killing one person and injuring over 30. Could this have been something more than a terrible act of road rage?
This is truly awful. A mother drove her car right up onto the busy sidewalk of the Las Vegas strip, and according to officials it was an intentional act, reports CNN. The report also claims that she was driving a 1996 Oldsmobile with Oregon license plates when she jumped the curb and mowed down dozens of innocent bystanders. However, police feel confident that this was not an act of terror.
“This was not an act of terrorism,” said Brett Zimmerman, a LAMPD deputy chief. “We are treating this as an intentional act.” Lakeisha’s poor decision left one person dead and over 30 injured and in the hospital. Even worse? Her 3-year-old daughter was in the car when the accident occurred, but was thankfully found unharmed.
An eyewitness recalls watching the horrific act, “The car rolled right in front of me. By the time I looked over to the right, all you could see was [her] driving away, and people were bouncing off the front of the car,” Antonio Nassar shared with the outlet. Unfortunately, a real motive is still unknown for this tragic act.
“Our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families involved in this tragic event tonight,” the LVMPD wrote on Twitter, letting everyone know that they care about them.
