How rude! Simon Cowell is bashing Zayn Malik and calling him ‘rude’ in an explosive new interview for saying he quit One Direction to make ‘real music.’ YIKES!
Don’t forget where you came from! Simon Cowell, 56, slams former One Direction singer Zayn Malik, 22, as “rude” for dissing 1D’s music as not “real music.” The music mogul, who created the band, thinks Zayn should reconsider his harsh words.
“I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band,” Simon told UK tabloid the Daily Star. “It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff. Life could have been a lot worse, right?”
Simon also revealed that he hasn’t given Zayn much thought since he left the band back in March 2015. He continued, “To be honest I don’t even think about it too much because as soon as he left we sorted him out with a label who really were enthusiastic about him and then my loyalty was back with the boys. They had no warning. Not that they needed me but I wanted to show that I was there for them and that they could continue without him – and they did.”
In Zayn’s first interview as a solo artist with Fader magazine, he revealed that he always knew he’d leave the band and said that he believed being in the band held him back creatively. No wonder Simon’s pissed!
“There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band. If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f***, so they could use that version,” he told the magazine.
Can’t we all just get along? Aside from Zayn and Louis Tomlinson’s massive Twitter beef, the boys of 1D have been very amicable about Zayn leaving the band. Simon is always going to be protective of One Direction, so it’s not surprising he would call out a hater, even if it is Zayn.
