What an incredible display! All 80 Miss Universe contestants represented their country with some incredible and unique costumes, donning elaborate garments and over-the-top headdresses. Check them all out here!
Before flaunting their swimsuit bods and sparkling in evening gowns, the 80 Miss Universe contestants got a chance to show a piece of their country in a costume during the National Costume Competition. This year, the women got super creative with their ensembles — Miss Spain even donned an old man’s gray beard! Between angel wings and embellished bralets, the ladies practically turned Miss Universe into Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Part II!
Where to begin? Every contestant took our breath away with their costumes! Miss USA showed her patriotic pride with a red, white, and blue one piece that made her look like a sparkly Wonder Woman. But the most amazing part of her costume was her massive wings! Maybe Miss USA wanted make an ode to the VS Fashion Show being in New York this year!
But it wasn’t just Miss USA that donned some fancy wings with her costume. Miss Denmark rocked some white feathered wings for her Ugly Duckling-inspired ensemble, and Miss Curacao‘s outfit included colorful parrot wings! Miss Haiti had quite the wings as well!
If it wasn’t wings that made the girls’ costumes elaborate, the headdresses certainly did the trick! Most of the contestants wore some sort of incredible headpiece with their outfits, with Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Argentina, and Miss Panama sporting some of the biggest, most feathery ones we have ever seen. Miss Indonesia, who won Best Costume in her last competition, even had a massive gold dragon face on hers!
Perhaps the most touching costume was Miss France, who paid tribute to her the tragedy that struck her country in the November Paris attacks. Her simple white dress featured a sparkly black Eiffel Tower, and she sported the “Pray for Paris” peace signs all over her arms. It was amazing to see her represent her country in such a sweet way!
Although there were certainly some standouts in the costume competition — can we talk about Miss Hungary transforming herself into a rubix cube? — there wasn’t one we didn’t love. Along with the pride for their country, the girls’ creativity came alive. We have no idea how the judges will choose who had the best one!
