Aw heck yeah! Bruce Springsteen, 65, took over the Saturday Night Live Christmas special on Dec. 19 with a rousing performance of his songs “Meet Me In The City” and “The Ties That Bind” and he totally had us rocking out from our couch from holiday classic “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town”. He gave a whole new meaning to “Jingle Bell Rock” when a surprise guest hopped on stage! Read all about the awesome show, here.
The Boss made his triumphant return to the Saturday Night Live stage on Dec. 19, for the annual Christmas show. Bruce hasn’t performed on SNL since 2002 – 13 years ago! However, this was the perfect year for him to return, because 2015 marked both his 40th anniversary of Born To Run, and the 40th anniversary of SNL. It was also a treat because the iconic rocker is known for playing huge shows that run on for three or more hours, so his rare late night show appearance was like a holiday miracle! And then Paul McCartney showed up! WHAT!
Bruce took to the stage surrounded by a winter wonderland, and he seriously put the “rock” back in “Jingle Bell Rock.” Along with the amazing E Street Band, Bruce busted out his hit “Meet Me In The City” and brought the freakin’ house down! Don’t even get us starting on the next-level saxophone solo – we’re still obsessing over it. Later on, he performing his classic “The Ties That Bind” and we rocked out in the throwback amazingness. Last but not least, he sang “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town” while the whole cast rocked out under falling snow! We thought it couldn’t get better, until SURPRISE, Paul hopped on stage. Awesome!
The SNL Christmas show was just all around awesome this year. On top of Bruce’s next-level performance, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were amazing hosting the show! The comedy super-duo had us in stitches throughout their whole opening monologue and their first sketch was beyond hysterical. They definitely amped up the funny after the release of their new movie Sisters the day before – we could barely handle it. The SNL Christmas show gets an A+ from us!
What did you think of Bruce’s performance, HollywoodLifers? Was it worth the 13 year wait? LEt us know in the comments!
