If there’s anyone to make light of a scary situation, it’s someone like Tracy Morgan. The 47-year-old comedian survived a wreck that ended his friend’s life, and although things looked bleak at one point, Tracy managed to pull through and practically pick up right where he left off in his career. Because of his amazing recovery, Barbara Walters selected Tracy as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2015. In the special, he made sure to acknowledge his guardian angels who he feels had a reason for keeping him alive.
“I survived that crash for a reason. I’m still here for a reason,” Tracy said to Barbara. “I guess my room wasn’t ready. Who knows? Maybe He kept me here to raise my daughter, raise my family.”
At this time last year, it was questionable whether Tracy would make a full comeback from his accident. He was still recovering from the severe injuries he sustained, one of which was to his brain. After a difficult recovery process, Tracy made a miraculous comeback nearly a year after the crash, announcing his return to comedy in August with a Saturday Night Live hosting gig.
That same month, Tracy married his longtime partner, Megan Wollover, with whom he has a daughter named Maven. While Tracy told Barbara he isn’t entirely sure what the true reason is for his incredible survival, it was extremely evident that his family is what he sees as his purpose for living.

Tracy couldn’t help telling Barbara how happy he is these days, even if the physical and mental scars from the accident are still there. With a smile on his face, Tracy gushed, “Happiness is simply having something to look forward to. Going home to see my daughter and my wife — all that makes me smile, it makes me happy.”
