Poor Ellie Day! LeBron James, 30, really lost his footing during the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder game and accidentally tackled golferJason Day’s wife, 29, while she was watching the game courtside! Ellie was immediately taken to the hospital after the scary accident.
James was in the middle of a play and trying to get the ball when he fell out of bounds and knocked over Ellie’s chair with her in it! The 6-foot-8 and 250-pound NBA star crushed the 29-year-old as her chair fell backwards and onto the ground.
LeBron immediately got up after falling on Ellie, who just gave birth in Nov. 2015, to continue playing, and Ellie was left on the ground. The game was stopped and the Cavaliers took a time out so LeBron could go and check on Ellie. She reportedly squeezed his hand. She received medical attention courtside and had to have a brace placed around her neck. She was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for treatment and released Dec. 18, a spokeswoman told ESPN.
“It wasn’t anything out of the usual besides the injury,” LeBron said about the game after the accident. “But to me, obviously her health is very important, and hopefully she’s doing well. The guys told us she’s doing great now. So, but you know, I was going for a loose ball. Just trying to keep the possession going, and I hate that that was the end result of it.”
LeBron also tweeted a touching message to Ellie after the game: “Ellie Day I hope you’re doing okay! My apologies! Hope u guys come back to another game soon. Love LJ!” He’s so sweet!
