Everyone has taken a friend or loved one for granted. Everyone has thought of memories past and wanted to relive the magic they once had with them. But unfortunately we are usually unable to go back and right a wrong… until now! Everyone has had an emotional connection with the Star Wars franchise in one way, shape, or form, and and thanks to J.J. Abrams and gang, our memories of what Star Wars can be and always was is back! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Back in Nov. 2013 exclusively told HollywoodLife.com point blank that he didn’t want to direct the film saying, “Look, Star Wars is one of my favorite movies of all time, I frankly feel that – I almost feel that, in a weird way, the opportunity for whomever it is to direct that movie, it comes with the burden of being that kind of iconic movie and series. I was never a big Star Trek fan growing up, so for me, working on Star Trek didn’t have any of that, you know, almost fatal sacrilege, and so, I am looking forward more then anyone to the next iterations of Star Wars, but I believe I will be going as a paying moviegoer!
But thankfully for everyone he changed his mind and gave us an amazing start to a whole new world of Star Wars adventures that we will be loving for years to come. The story is simple, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has gone missing after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and the galaxy has been taken over by a very dark regime known as The First Order. With the help of The Resistance and a few old friends, the galaxy has been given a hope of a brighter tomorrow. With incredible performances by newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega and a returning Harrison Ford who plays the iconic Han Solo, we are taken into a galaxy far, far away for an adventure that will change the universe and our wallets forever!
The film has both laughs and nostalgia at the same time, it also has heart. We see the incredibly sweet new droid BB8 throughout the film who clearly could get an Oscar nomination (had it been a real person). And the way the film weaves back and forth from old and new ideas and characters, tightly puts together a film that you will be dying to see again and again and having you question what could possibly be next. Everyone involved has clearly respected what Star Wars is and fans worldwide will be satisfied — and will be leaving the theater with smiles and tears.
In previous Star Wars adventures, we have fallen in love with the action, the characters, the surprises and everything in between and this time around we are taken for a ride that we will never forget — a ride that adds all those elements we know and love! Regardless of what you feel about the original trilogy or the prequels, Star Wars: The Force Awakens makes you love the memories you are making and it makes you remember the memories you had of the franchise feel amazing! Catch up on all the Star Wars movies here!
It is amazing to fall in love again, to wrong a right. To know what you may have taken for granted and realize what you have had all along is one of the best things ever! Go see this film as many times as possible because it is everything you need it to be. May the force be with you.
