The trophy is back in Adam Levine’s hands! After coming up short on three straight season of ‘The Voice,’ Jordan Smith’s victory on Dec. 15 made the Maroon 5 singer champion again…and he can’t wait to rub it in Blake Shelton’s face!
Congratulations are in order for Jordan Smith, Season 9 winner of The Voice! Of course, we also have to praise his coach, Adam Levine, who was with him as a mentor for every step of the journey. This victory is especially sweet for the 36-year-old because it means he’ll be able to tease Blake Shelton for six whole months — and he’s SO ready for it.
“It feels so good [to beat Blake]. I’m going to enjoy this night,” Adam gushed in a press conference after the Dec. 15 finale. “On a completely selfish level, Jordan, I just want you to know. It’s really quite beautiful because Jordan gets to win The Voice and I get to tear Blake apart for the next six months, bragging about my win and his drought of victory. It’s going to be great. I’m going to think of new and exciting ways to make him feel terrible. It’s going to be really fun, guys.”
Adam and Blake have both been coaches on the NBC show since it’s premiere nine seasons ago, and have been in a heated battle since Day 1 over who would be victorious. Jordan’s win puts Adam’s total at three — his contestants were champions in Seasons 1 and 5 — while Blake still holds the top spot with 4 W’s, Seasons 2, 3, 4 and 7.
Jordan was a frontrunner on The Voice from the very first episode of this season, but that didn’t take anything away from how amazing the victory felt. “There are so many times where I just didn’t expect to be in this position and I’m still kind of blown away by that just because I never expected to be this far,” he explained. “But I’m so honored to be, I’m so proud to be, out of all these people. They’re so great. This is just so unreal. It’s just one of the craziest moments I’ve experienced.”
And don’t worry, Blake didn’t exactly have a shabby night during the Season 9 finale! His team members, Emily Ann Roberts and Barrett Baber, came in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, and Gwen Stefani’s singer, Jeffery Austin, rounded out the Top 4. Congratulations to all — and we can’t wait to see how Adam takes advantage of these bragging rights! Check out Maroon 5’s latest album RIGHT HERE.
HollywoodLifers, do you think Adam should tease Blake so much? Are you happy Jordan won The Voice?
