Ted Cruz finally broke his silence on what he thinks about Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States at the Republican presidential debate. Ted said he’d ban all refugees from ISIS controlled countries for ‘three years’ if he were president.
Donald Trump, 69, does not have an ally in Ted Cruz. The potential Republican presidential candidate had yet to comment on what he thought of Donald’s temporary ban of Muslims entering the United States but during the debate on Dec. 15, Ted, 44, finally said he understands why Donald proposed this ban but he has a plan of his own!
Ted has been reluctant to say anything against Donald’s proposal to ban Muslims but he finally broke his silence. “Well everyone understands why Donald has suggested what he has. We are looking at a president that has engaged in this double speak,” Ted said. “Where he doesn’t call radical Islamic terrorism by its name and he gives a speech after the San Bernardino attack where his approach is to try and go after the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens rather than to keep us safe and even worse President Obama and Hillary Clinton are proposing to bring tens of thousands of Syrian refuges to this country when the head of the FBI has told Congress they cannot vet those refuges.”
Ted continued before he finally took a strong stance: “I understand why Donald made this proposal … I introduced legislation in the Senate that I believe is more narrowly focused at the actual threat which is radical Islam terrorist… what my legislation would do is suspend all refuges for three years from countries where ISIS controls substantial territory.”
But finally he said that he doesn’t agree with Donald and that it’s not about “faith” it’s about wiping out those who “seek to murder us. “Well I’m reminded of what FDR’s grandfather said, all horse thieves are democrats but not all democrats are horse thieves,” he said as the audience laughed. “In this instance there are millions of peaceful Muslims across the world like India where there is not the problems we are seeing in nations that are controlled by Al Qaeda or ISIS. We should direct at the problem and focus on the problem and defeat radical Islamic terrorism. It’s not a war on a faith it’s a war on a political and theological ideology that seeks to murder us.”
Here’s a refresher of what caused such a controversy. Donald issued a statement saying he thought all Muslims should be banned from entering the United States “calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
Donald also said, “We are now at war. We have a president that doesn’t want to say that, but we are now at war.” Meanwhile, Donald is the frontrunner to become the nominee according to the polls.
