Missy Elliott still knows how to tear apart a stage. She performed her new single ‘WTF (Where They From)’ with Pharrell on TV for the first time and it was awesome.
It’s been far too long since we’ve seen Missy Elliott, 44, on TV. Thankfully, The Voice season finale brought her back on Dec. 15. With help from Pharrell Williams, 42, Missy rocked her new single “WTF (Where They From)” and it was insane.
Missy got her freak on and we loved it! Her performance started out with a awesome routine by a dancer rocking a shiny disco ball-like jumpsuit. Then Missy came out rapping and dancing around a New York City themed stage. It was insanely awesome. There were two tiny puppets that were identical to her and Pharrell jamming out onstage. Super cool. Then the real Pharrell popped out of a makeshift subway cart and it really got good. After a quick wardrobe change Missy came back rapping “WTF” while Pharrell broke it down for the audience.
“WTF (Where They From)” is Missy’s first single in three years and this music video is the first in almost a decade. Her last video was 2008’s “Ching-a-Ling/Shake Your Pom Pom,” so you can tell guess how Missy’s fans are going nuts for her new music.
The video was directed by her longtime friend, Dave Meyers, reports E! News. Dave directed or co-directed some of her biggest videos, including “Get Ur Freak On,” “One Minute Man” and “Work It.” His influence is definitely there, as this immediately feels like a Missy video.
What did you think of Missy’s performance, HollywoodLifers? Is this your jam?
