You’re not the only one super bummed about the end of ‘Mike and Molly.’ The show’s star, Melissa McCarthy just took to Twitter to reveal that she was just as surprised as we were!
When Rondi Reed, the actress who plays Mike’s mom on Mike and Molly broke the news that CBS’ show will be coming to an end next month, we were completely depressed — and the star of the show was too. Melissa McCarthy tweeted her reaction on Dec. 14, and we have to say — she’s not thrilled.
“I was shocked and heartbroken when @CBS canceled #MikeAndMolly,” Melissa, 45, wrote on Twitter. “I would have shot this show for 50 more years. I’ll miss my 2nd family.” The actress was the third person from the show to actually confirm its end. Watch episodes of Mike and Molly here!
On Dec. 4, Billy Gardell, who plays Mike on the show, tweeted the news: “Mike and Molly returns Jan 6, it will be our last episodes. There are 13 of them. Thank you everyone who supported us. 🙏🙏❤️❤️.”
Then, Rondi posted a very telling message on Facebook will more details that shocked the fans. “It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network. We are done taping as of January 27th 2016 and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired,” she wrote. “The network has it’s reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds. Other venues were explored by WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show,” she wrote. “It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks. I remain extremely grateful to have been a part of this and to have worked with a fabulous bunch of folks over the years. I have learned a lot about many things, including the Business we call Show. Also grateful for all the fans and for the personal support I have received over the (almost) 6 seasons. Stewart Talent has guided me every step of the way on this journey and for that I am also forever grateful.” Join Amazon Prime For Free – Thousands of Movies & Shows Anytime
