Santa came early this year! For all the Christmas lovers out there, Hozier’s new cover of the traditional carol ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ will be music to your ears! The singer put a spin on the song for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge and it’s sure to be a hit this holiday season.
As if Hozier‘s, 25, music wasn’t perfect already, the “Take Me to Church” performer continues to grace fan’s ears with a new twist on a popular Christmas carol. The intense cover of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” which Hozier performed for BBC Radio 1’s Life Lounge, puts listeners into a trance with a slow paced remake.
Hozier is giving Mariah Carey, 45, a run for her Christmas merrymaking money with his latest rendition of the carol. Even those who despise holiday tunes will have this one on repeat as the Irish singer’s deep, mesmerizing voice will definitely “take them to church!”
The singer performed his version of the song for the BBC’s Live Lounge, the same place he debuted his cover of Ariana Grande‘s “Problem” earlier this year.
This isn’t the vocal god’s first amazing cover, either. In September, the singer performed his own version of Sam Smith‘s “Lay Me Down”, also on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, and received endless praise for it. Sam himself told Hozier how impressed he was by tweeting, “Brother @Hozier — f***ing love the Live Lounge cover!!!!! Anything yo using makes me heart jump xx Big kisses sir xx.” The long haired star replied in excitement with, “Ahh! Thrilled you like it!! Was an absolute joy to cover – hope you’re keeping well man x.”
