When Roman Reigns met Sheamus at ‘WWE TLC’ on Dec. 13, he offered the WWE champ a chair – by smashing it against his face! Sheamus returned the favor during their Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, and ended up victorious after quite the vicious battle!
There was no “tender loving care” between Roman Reigns, 30, and Sheamus, 37, at WWE’s TLC. Those three letters stood for tables, ladders and chairs, and all were used in the WWE Heavyweight Championship match. Even after taking chairs to their faces and falling off ladders, both Roman and Sheamus put up a tough fight. Sheamus proved to be the better opponent, but Roman didn’t give up — find out what happened after Sheamus’ win below!
With the WWE Heavyweight title suspended from the ceiling of the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, Roman and Sheamus were allowed to use tables, ladders and chairs to beat the living daylights out of each other. And they sure did! What started out as a punching brawl resulted in a major use of TLC, as both Roman and Sheamus crashed tables and ladders on top of each other until the bitter end.
The WWE Universe wondered if Sheamus’s new stable, The League of Nations, would interfere, as a TLC match is “anything goes.” That means King Barrett, Alberto Del Rio and Rusev could run in and help Sheamus win! Since their interference was welcomed, of course the League took the opportunity to mess with Roman! After they showed up, Sheamus was quickly able to Brogue Kick his way to a win by sending Roman flying out of the ring. Much to the crowd’s dismay, Sheamus took the victory! But he didn’t walk away unharmed — he suffered plenty of bloody cuts and bruises!
But Roman’s defeat didn’t stop him from causing some post-match raucous. As soon as Rusev and Del Rio hoisted Sheamus on their shoulders, Roman took them all down with a spear and proceeded to go crazy on them with chair shots! Triple H tried to come in to save the day, but instead he got caught right in the middle of Roman’s rage. Roman powerbombed Triple H into the announcer’s table, then blasting him with a spear to finish things off. Although this didn’t change the fact that Sheamus won the match, it certainly made the crowd happy!
During the Dec. 13 event, Roman was looking for payback against Sheamus after the Irishman practically stole the WWE Championship from Roman. After a knee injury forced Seth Rollins to vacate the title, wrestling’s best competed in a tournament to crown a new champion at Survivor Series. Roman faced his friend, Dean Ambrose, in the finals and after a brutal battle, Roman came out on top!
But he would not leave Survivor Series with the belt around his waist. Sheamus cashed in his “Money In The Bank” contract on Roman, which is a chance to have a heavyweight title match anytime, anywhere. After delivering a devastating Brouge Kick to the side of Roman’s head, Sheamus pinned him and boom! New champ.
2015 has been a great year for Sheamus. In addition to being crowned the best WWE wrestler in the world and winning TLC, the Irishman was cast as the character Rocksteady in the 2016 movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. The film also stars Stephen Amell, who certainly knows his way inside a wrestling ring, having defeated Stardust and Sheamus’s pal, King Barrett, at SummerSlam.
