Talk about a grand finale! One Direction went back to their roots and performed one of their last shows for a year on the season finale of ‘X-Factor,’ the place that they first became a band. Click through to watch!
Is anyone else a little misty-eyed? The One Direction boys took to the stage at the X-Factor finale on Saturday, December 12, to perform two of their hits for a hysterically happy, but emotional crowd. This was one of their last performances before going on their year-long hiatus, after all! Click through to watch clips of their performances!
It’s only fitting that One Direction ends (for the time being) where they first began. The boys first met when they were all auditioning separately for X-Factor in 2007, when Simon Cowell had the brilliant idea to put them together as a boy band. It turned out to be probably the best idea he’s ever had! After years of success, 1D got back together onstage at X-Factor to say their temporary goodbyes before going on hiatus.
Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall brought the massive crowd to their feet by playing both “History” and their new single “Infinity.” Can you imagine being in that audience? During “History,” pictures of the guys throughout the years (as “fetuses,” as one Twitter user hilariously put it) played on a jumbo screen behind them. Such cute pictures of their baby faces when they were just teens! And a lot of Zayn Malik too. Even if he’s not in the band now, he’s certainly a huge part of their history.
“Infinity” was all disco balls, flashing lights, and bright twinkle lights that engulfed the theater. And a little bit of focus on Harry’s infamous floral suit. Good to know he didn’t listen to any fashion criticism! Simon gave the boys a lovely speech about how far they’ve come, which must have meant a lot from the mentor who made it all happen. They don’t necessarily want to go on break, but Liam explained it. “We’re sad that we’re going away for a while but we need it,” he said. You do you, guys!
