The ‘Madam Secretary’ winter finale airs Dec. 13, and Elizabeth and her crew have their work cut out for them. HollywoodLife.com was on the set and got EXCLUSIVE scoop on the episode straight from the cast!

The world of Madam Secretary is on the brink of war with Russia, and it’s up to Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) to help keep World War III from happening. HollywoodLife.com talked to cast members EXCLUSIVELY on a set visit, and they revealed it’s one shocking and “intense” episode.

“We are on the brink of war with Russia and we’re sort of at the real crossroads of whether to push all in in support of Ukraine despite what we learned in previous episode or try and create peace,” Sebastian Arcelus, who plays Elizabeth’s policy advisor Jay, told HollywoodLife.com. “It’s pretty intense. I’m excited to see it all play out.”

This major conflict puts Elizabeth in quite the predicament. But cast member Patina Young, who plays Daisy, says no one should underestimate Elizabeth.

“With Elizabeth, anything is possible. She’s able to go into these situations that level-headed, and I think people like her,” Patina told us. “And some people don’t like her because she’s smart and knows what she’s doing. She knows what she’s doing, but you aren’t going to trick her. She thinks for herself. There’s not someone feeding her lines to say. She’s tough and she really does get it done. I’m really rooting for her.”

Well, not everyone is going to come out of the winter finale unscathed. Erich Bergen told HollywoodLife.com that Blake’s reaction to the high stakes in the finale is quite shocking.

“Blake does something that shocked me as the actor,” Erich said. “Blake is often the rock. He’s the one who has it all together. He’s the one who has nothing at stake. My job never involves policy or world events. My job doesn’t end up at stake very often. So I think Blake getting involved in this way and seeing Blake this way makes him realize that he’s very human.”
