Surprise! Willow Smith shocked fans by dropping a brand new album with little promotion on ‘Ardiphitecus’ Dec. 11, and you can stream the whole thing right here! Take a listen now.
She’s just 15 years old, but Willow Smith is definitely making a splash with this one! Just like Beyonce did in the past, the daughter of Will Smith decided to drop her latest album as a complete surprise. Get your first listen of Ardiphitecus here.
Willow cryptically tweeted the date “Dec. 11th” a few times over the last several days, but gave no indication as to why she was so infatuated with this particular day. Well, we finally got our answer when the morning arrived, and this time, it was a link to Ardiphitecus that she shared — with no other comment or caption included.
“Ardiphithecus Ramidus is the scientific name of the first hominid bones found on earth,” she explained to The Fader. “I wanted to name my musical compilation after it because, while I was making these songs, I was in such a transitional state. Digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self that tell stories, which end up being the lyrics to the songs. Ardipithecus is my first album in my entire career and it makes me feel so blessed to be able to share my evolution with the LightEaters as I continue excavating my inner worlds…”
Willow made a major statement in 2010, when she released the hit song “Whip My Hair,” which you can buy RIGHT HERE. Unfortunately, she hasn’t put out another track that was as big since, so it was probably the right move to wait until she was a few years older for the album release. It sounds like the 15-year-old worked really hard on this project, and you can listen to the ENTIRE record right here:
